The Choice 2008 Impression

2008 October 14

By far my favorite journalism program out there is PBS’s Frontline. This time around they released The Choice 2008.

My impression at first was that it was a bit skewered in favor for John McCain. But as I though it over, I got a bit more into knowing how Obama has faced the political barriers that a black man can face in politics. It was a side that I had not seen much about Obama. I can probably expect right-wing giddiness over this presentation, but I saw it as an exposure of the pragmatism of Barack Obama. I have been learning to respect John McCain and along with the look-back regarding his political career that I received from this piece and other pieces, I have to say, McCain has been and is facing a delemna of appeasing the Republican base.

It’s sad in my opinion.

So the documenraty to me shows us sides of the two politicians that we have seemed to have overlooked for sometime. It reminded me that John McCain did not just plaster himself with the title of “maverick”. It showed us that Barack Obama knows a good deal about opposition and is a politician that seeks to overcome the current temperament of the political environment.

I highly recomment this program for those who have not seen it. Head on over to the site and view the program for free.
